To have an understanding into the different ideas about what a family is Lesson 1 Tasks What is a family? Think about what it means and write down a definition. Then share your answers with the class. What types of families are there? Think of as many different types of family as possible. Watch the video on the right. How is this similar or different to your family? Now using images and your computer, create a family tree for your family, using images or drawings. Lesson 2 Tasks Watch these three videos: 'American Family Structure', 'Gay Parents' and 'Marriage in China'. Now read this article, 'The girl with 3 biological parents'. Finally watch this video, 'The Complicated Chinese family'. After each video and article, write down 3 questions that the videos/article makes you think about. Make a list of all the jobs that are required at home. Now write down who does which job. Which genders do most? Now watch this video. Make a list of all the members of the family, and write down the roles and responsibilities of each family member in the video. How similar is this to your family? Discussion - How have families changed in the last 50 years? Discuss - Is your helper part of your family? |
